Uniting Presbyterian Women’s Fellowship

VISION

To be a united Christian Fellowship, that seeks to serve and bear witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

MISSION

As the UPWF, we exist to uphold the values and give effect to the priorities of the UPCSA by :
  • Providing support to the UPCSA through Evangelism, Stewardship, Health, wellbeing and securing justice and engaging in reconciliation and unity.
  • Proclaiming Christ as the Saviour and Centre of life of UPWF members.
  • Promoting financial viability of UPWF members in order to improve their socio economic status.
  • Building the capacity of women to fulfill the leadership positions in the church, UPWF and in broader society

In our activities we are guided by the following objectives:
  • Strengthen and deepen the Christian Fellowship through reading  and study of the bible, through rendering prayer  and conducting regular worship.
  • To put faith into action by living good and exemplary lives in accordance to Christian values.
  • To be channels of God’s love in the world by reaching out to those who are less fortunate, are in need and distressed.
  • To empower women by promoting self-worth, confidence and self assertiveness in order for them to play a constructive role in Church and society.
  • To train women in leadership thus encouraging and preparing them for participation in church structures.
  • To encourage  interdenominational  cooperation  both in work and prayer 
  • To give support to other church projects as identified by members of the  fellowship geared  at improving  both the faith  and the lives of people.
  • To encourage  Christian  principles ( behaviour)

Activities of the UPWF

Polsmoor Annual Visit
On the 16 August 2014 the UPWF visited the female inmates. We believe through prayers and support they will learn from their misdemeanors. Integration of these women after serving their sentences could play a constructive role in the society. 

Visit to Siyakuzenza Project
JL Zwane Women jointly visited the home in Philipi. The home accommodates abused women and children.

Farewell to the staunch members of the Branch
Mrs Mashao and Mrs Lokotho served the branch with their unique skills and capabilities.Their involvement in different portfolios will never be forgotten. Relocation to the Eastern was a loss to JL Zwane Memorial  Congregation. 

AGM 
17 UPWF Members attended the AGM within the bounds of  the Central Cape Presbytery. Rev Dr.Xapile made a presentation on leadership. Changing the dominant story“ What one feeds her mind shows itself in her actions”

Senior Citizens Christmas Party
The senior citizens were showered with tokens of appreciation for mentoring and supporting the ministry. The day started with the sacrament of holy communion.

A Church With The Difference 
Mrs Nompumelelo Mantangana started the clinic; “It is a wellness clinic focusing on life style diseases; high blood, diabetes observations, referrals and education”. After Easter she plans to be focusing on talks and trainings on the gaps in HIV and Aids. 

Rededication Sunday 08/03/15
Every second Sunday in March UPWF in - UPCSA rededicate themselves to the ministry of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
The theme for 2015: “Conversations that matter with Jesus”. Candles were lit and women who made a difference in protecting the dignity of the individuals and the community were awarded with tokens of appreciation

UPWF Probationers
Abanqonqozi Sunday the 1 March and Saturday 7 March the committee prepared the probationers to be robed and become full members of the UPWF.
Eight women determined to heed the call to be involved in God’s project.

The Committee has ensured that the women have completed the probation syllabus as contained in the admin book to be ready for the interviews. 


Beading Project

When:
On Tuesdays and Fridays from 12:00 to 14:00  The unemployed women meet to design beadwork in order to improve their socio economic status.

Our Vision:

  • To present Jesus Christ as saviour to all men and engage them in the promotion and extension of God’s Kingdom.
  • To build up Christian character by encouraging attendance at public worship, the reading of scriptures and witness to Christ
  • To extend the kingdom of God in our church, in the churches to which we are related in the entire world
  • To inculcate a sense of moral discipline, especially in the members of the guild
  • To promote programmes of intellectual, social and physical growth
  • To inculcate a spirit of obedience and humility both in our church and the entire world
  • To bind members to resist all un-Christian customs and to follow the life which is the fruit of the spirit
  • To be financially viable organ of the church
  • To be involved in social welfare projects/programmes
  • To assist all our sister association in everywhere we can.
